How dance can benefit your preschooler

As parents we spoiled for choice by the landscape of children's services. It's never been a better time to be a three year old with all the opportunities to pursue. So with all the options and with a limited time, how do you discern and decide the best path for your little one?

Dance classes kill two birds with one stone... it is a pursuit that is both active and creative.

Children have the most wonderful imaginations and dance allows them to express themselves and explore movement through characterisation. For instance a simple "ball/toe heel" in tap becomes an adventure in "squishing bugs" and the ballet polka becomes a "tutu train". Dance students connect their learning through creative channels and in doing so they have so much fun they don't even realise how much they are learning.

Kate Valdez owns Caper School of Performing Arts in the Hills District and has worked with pre-schoolers in the Hills District for over 17 years. In fact, she now employs some of her former pre-school students! Caper School of Performing Arts is the official location of Ready Set Dance in Bella Vista.
